And again the swiss conquer the rock world. The band Rizon from Zürich, founded back in 1997, present their third album “Masquerade” and like on the other both releases “Evolution” (2005) and “Sudden Life” (2008) it is all happening here. The band could win the finnish bigness Nino Laurenne as producer who had also bands like Apocalyptica, Sunrise Avenue, The Rasmus and others in his Sonic Pump Studios before.

Line Up:
Matthias Götz, Vocals
Seraina Telli, Vocals
Christian Götz, Guitar
Mark Wietlisbach, Guitar
Marco Küderli, Keyboards
Jim Dodd, Bass
Tom Lindegger, Drums

The opener “High Flyer” is well done, directly hitting your ears. An appetizer for the rest. Also the powerful, dynamic voice of Matthias and the harmonic, classical voice of Seraina are pointing here. The title track “Masquerade” starts melodic but to continue really powerful. Here the rocking voice of Seraina shows her advantage.
“El Dios” is the only spanish song, well done and surely will find a lot of fans in the balearic islands. Also the guitar solo has not to be sneezed. “Out of Nowhere” then is a really catchy tune. It owns some prog influences and some good changes in tempo.

Rizon offer us a good handmade melodic power rock album. Sometimes the songs are too theatrical, but that doesn’t break the music. Mostly the male and female voices fit together and makes all a little unique. Their parts are shared in same length.
I for myself like Seraina’s vocals more…rare to find good female voices in rock music. Also some song are really too long.

Those who like music in Blackmore’s Night style…this is for you.
The word Rizon is derived from Rise on and means constant rising.
And I think the guys and the lady can make it !
